Earth Hour Celebrations In March

By Bejay Browne.

Organisers of earth hour are inviting people from all around the world to take part in the annual event, which is a worldwide movement organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

It encourages individuals, communities and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour, from 8:30 to 9:30pm on a specific day towards the end of March, as a symbol of commitment to the planet.

“No matter where you are in the world, you can make an impact this Earth Hour,” they said.

It started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia and has mushroomed to include more than 187 countries and territories, and raises awareness of energy consumption and it’s effect on the environment.

Earth Hour this year will take place on March 28, from 8:30 pm to 9:30pm.

Participants can switch off lights for an hour, join a local earth hour event, organise an event, sign the earth hour, “Voice for the Planet” pledge, learn about issues and solutions, live more sustainably, and inspire and empower by sharing what nature means to you and what you’ve done in your daily life to help protect the planet.
