Many of you will probably be aware of the top spots to visit on our beautiful island, but just in case you’ve missed any, here are some of Tripadvisor’s Top Cyprus Attractions (I wonder how many of you will agree with the short list!)
Kato Paphos Archaeological Park
The archaeological park includes sights and monuments from the 4th century BC to the Middle Ages. Most of the remains date from the time of Roman rule. The complex mosaic floors in four Roman villas (the houses of Dionysus, Theseus, Aion and Orpheus) form the impressive core of the finds and show different scenes from Greek mythology.
Konnos Bay – Ayia Napa
A gorgeous beach with crystal clear water where you can laze in the sun or get a bit more adventurous with some rock jumping! It does get busy though, so keep that in mind.
Kourion – On the way to Limassol from Paphos
If you are a history buff and love ancient architecture, then you must make a trip to Kourion. Visit the House of Achilles, marvel at the mosaics, see the Roman Agora, the Greco-Roman Theatre built in 2nd century BC, and there is much more to explore.
Agios Lazaros – Larnaca
Built on the very sepulcher of the Saint, who, according to tradition, was the first Bishop of Kition. The church of St. Lazarus is one of the two three domed churches that exist to-day in Cyprus (the other being that of St. Barnabas’ monastery, near Famagusta).
Aphrodite ‘s Rock Brewing Company – Paphos
Tasteful family-run Microbrewery & Brewpub set in a lovingly restored former old winery with its picturesque stone courtyard & stunning countryside location. Just 15 minutes from Paphos, you will enjoy a fantastic day out that is suitable both for families & all kinds of groups.
Bellapais Monastery – Kyrenia
Ruin of a monastery built by Canons Regular in the 13th century, about five kilometres from the town of Kyrenia. The ruin is at an altitude of 220m above sea level, with stunning views down to Kyrenia and the Mediterranean sea. Enjoy some refreshments at the cafes overlooking the beautiful abbey.
Avakas Gorge – Paphos
This dramatic canyon, a favourite of hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts, is characterized by beautiful rock formations, wildlife and rare plants. If you’re lucky you might catch sight of the mountain goats perched precariously on the hill sides.
Limassol Marina
A great place to feast your eyes on the large super yachts moored in the Marina with a great selection of bars and restaurants ideal for some stay-cation action! You can also take a stroll along the promenade to work up an appetite.
Agios Neophytos Monastery
15km west of Paphos, this is one of the best-known monasteries in Cyprus. It was founded by monk Neophytos in the 12th century. The property is currently a museum consisting of the Engleistra (Place of Seclusion, built in a natural cave, with a small chapel) and the Monastery.
