Well, it’s been two long years since the Paphos Zingers have been able to perform their Christmas repertoire but thankfully now we’re back with no less than 7 performances through December. Historically this month has always been the busiest for us with an average of 12.
This year we have been offered 7 very high-profile venues in which to perform and help raise funds for our chosen charity, Cancer Patients Support Group. Sadly, the hotel venues are not open for the general public as they were in previous years & are solely for hotel residents but we can confirm they are donating generously so we would like to thank the Athena Beach, King Evelthon, Annabelle and The Elysium.
So where can you go in December to kickstart your festive season & have fun listening (& joining in) with us?
Saturday 18th December sees us at the ever-popular Darcy’s Restaurant as they hold their Christmas market there from 10 am till 4 pm. Numerous stalls, great food & of course The Paphos Zingers adding to the atmosphere. We perform at 12.30pm with upbeat songs from our generic repertoire followed by our festive songs at 1.30pm. We encourage you to join in by singing along, clapping, stamping your feet or whatever we ‘re allowed to do in these strange times.
The very next day we’re back for the 7th consecutive year at Gabriel’s Taverna in Kouklia Square.
Gabriel, his family & wonderful team always book us for the Sunday before Christmas, it’s a non-written tradition now & we always get a familiar warm welcome from everyone there.
Tables can be booked from 12 noon & we perform our first generic upbeat set at 1 pm. We will be organising a very substantial raffle after our first performance then you will be entertained with our eclectic mix of festive songs that we encourage you to join in with. Tables can be booked directly with Gabriel by calling 26432527 or 99633745. You really are advised to book early as the chances are we’ll be inside & therefore adhering to the covid restriction rules so tables will be limited. There was actually a waiting list at Gabriels when we performed there this summer. (Get us!).
So, we are going to be busy little Zingers but we couldn’t do what we do without the help of our team who work so hard. We get all the glory but there are so many lovely people in our group who get us where are. Our Events Coordinators, Maggie Rice & Lyn Irvine, our new Sound Man Michael Hodson & our new Musical Director Mark Grindall, plus lots of unseen helpers who make life easier for Zingers. You know who you are we thank you all.
So, we hope to see many familiar faces at one or more of these events & plenty of new faces too. It just leaves us to say we wish you all a very merry, Zinging Christmas, we thank you for your continued support helping us raise much needed funds for our charity.
We wish for you good health & happiness as we cascade in 2022. (Where does time go?)
With Love from The Paphos Zingers
