Congratulations and many thanks for your generosity, kindness and support throughout 2021. With your donations of clothing, bric-a-brack and money we have been able to support and give out nearly 2000 food bags and clothing etc to needy people and families through what has been a very challenging time throughout the world.
Not wishing to wonder into the politics of what is happening here in Cyprus, Turkey and Europe as a whole; the scenario of facing the ever-increasing numbers of our beneficiaries who are desperate for support and help to survive is becoming increasingly more difficult. Your thoughts, prayers and donations are not only welcomed, but are very much needed.
We are often asked what do we need specifically, so here’s a short list and explanation.
- Bikes: These are need to help our beneficiaries to travel around to find and get to places to work. Long term this would help those in need to become self-sufficient as they would have a wage coming in. Just as an update as soon as someone gets a job any benefits, they are in receipt of are immediately stopped.
- Clothing: Every week at least 50 people come to our storeroom in Kato Paphos to select clothing. Last week a man came into our storeroom wearing odd flip flops in very poor condition. We were able to provide him with a matching pair of sandals and a pair of shoes. On his way out I noticed that his jeans were ripped and falling apart. I got him to get himself two pairs of trousers as well.
- Volunteers: We need more volunteers to help in our storeroom on Fridays between 10am and 2pm. The work is fairly light and involves sorting donated clothing and assisting beneficiaries to pick what they need.
- French/English Speaker: Needed to translate and assist our Database Expert in the inputting of personal data onto our secure database.
- Food donations: With the increased need we are now providing approximately 250 Food bags every month. Donation of any non- perishable food products are always needed and gratefully accepted.
- Monetary donations: Every week we spend around €600.00 on food for the food bags we give away. Every single donation is fully accounted for and very much appreciated.
To conclude we wish to thank all of you who have supported our new Farm Project. We have obtained the land, which is out on the B6 just past Paphos airport. Water has been installed and land has been recently ploughed. Vegetable and Fruit seeds have been purchased and we await drier weather and will proceed to cultivate land further and begin planting.
