“Although it only seems like last week we started offering British-standard Hearing Care to hearing loss sufferers here in the west of Cyprus, it is, in fact, 14 years ago! Where did that go?”, says Donald of ALTERNATIVE HEARING, formerly Regional Manager with one of the UK’s largest hearing care providers.
“Pinching ourselves on a regular basis is required!”, adds Suzie, the other half of the company. “This is such a beautiful and relaxed place to live and work, despite the last two years being affected by the dreaded Covid. Hopefully, the pandemic is largely behind us and things can gradually get back to a very welcome normality”.
Despite the pandemic, ALTERNATIVE HEARING continue to move forward, (and will for the foreseeable future), offer the latest in hearing aid technology and expertise, all delivered in an accessible and friendly way, whilst maintaining the high standards of professionalism people have come to expect from this most “hands-on” of companies.
“Our roots are very well established here now, and a return to Scotland (although much loved) is most definitely not on the cards. In any case, I doubt our eight cats would ever forgive us!”, says Donald. “Our only regret is that we didn’t make the move here earlier in life, although, like most people, we had to wait for family to grow up and get settled. And now they can all start visiting again, bringing with them their kids! It might be best to apologise to our neighbours in advance for the noise expected from in and around the swimming pool area this coming year!”
Away from running the business, gardening and looking after the cats take up much of Suzie’s time. “As any cat person will know, dogs have owners, cats have staff!”, says Suzie.
Although Donald admits to helping out garden-wise “when cornered”, his main down-time passion remains being a member of local rock band, Midlife Crisis, although he adds that he sometimes feels he is rapidly drifting towards “silly old fool” territory! However, he has found that repeating the two-word mantra, ”Keith Richards…Keith Richards” helps enormously!
