It has been long awaited by both tourists and businesses, but thankfully it looks as though the holiday industry has been kick started this year as records show over half a million visitors have flocked to Cyprus in the first quarter for a much needed post pandemic holiday. In April alone, a whopping 289,335 people made their way to the Island. In comparison, 2021 saw just 55,973, so it’s a much welcomed increase.
Cyprus enjoys a wide range of nationalities when it comes to its tourists, so this year will of course take a serious hit with the ongoing war in Ukraine as Russia actually takes second spot in the highest number of visitors normally expected to the island.
But the Brits are most definitely back, with thousands packing their bags to get some rest and relaxation in their favourite holiday spot and also, for many, to reconnect with family and friends that they have not seen in person for over 2 years.
People come to Cyprus for many reasons and according to statistics 80.2% of them were for a holiday, 14.6% to visit friends and family and 5.2% for business (Stats obtained from data of Cyprus Flight Pass and passenger survey)
The mix of tourists include British, Germans, Greeks, Israelis and Polish and beautiful sunny Cyprus welcomes them all with their extravagant friendly hospitality!
