Russian artist Anastasia Krivenko is staging an exhibition of her paintings at the Tsangarides Winery on November 20 to raise funds for The Friends\u2019 Hospice.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before moving to Cyprus, Anastasia worked in digital art but the stunning beauty of this island, with its seascapes and sunsets reignited her passion to paint with her hands. She chose fragile crayons as her tactile medium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dry pastel technique is an overlay of strokes and then rubbing and shading with the fingers. This gives a soft flow of one colour into another to produce a delicate velvety surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t strive for photorealism,\u201d says Anastasia. \u201cIt\u2019s important for me to convey my feelings and impressions of what I see. Pastel is an amazing material, both graphic and picturesque at the same time. It\u2019s very flexible and sensitive to my mood at any given time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angelos Tsangarides, the owner of the famous winery at Limona, is a long-time supporter of The Friends\u2019 to Hospice and has gladly given space for Anastasia\u2019s exhibition. Although the paintings aren\u2019t for sale because the artist is awaiting her final residency papers, visitors will be asked to make a donation, however small, to help support the hospice in its work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Jones, President of The Friends\u2019 Hospice Foundation, said: \u201dThe generosity of Angelos Tsangarides and Anastasia Krivenko is somehow typical of the goodwill shown to the hospice and its
work in palliative care.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asked about progress in its move to a new \u2018home\u2019 in Tala, Jones said final renovation plans had been drawn up and it was hoped that work would start very soon to convert the nine-bedroom house for its new purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since it began its work in 2006, The Friends\u2019 Hospice has provided care for two thousand patients of all nationalities, completely free of charge, regardless of their financial means or nationality.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
