{"id":2037,"date":"2022-09-21T08:04:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-21T08:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepaphospost.com\/?p=2037"},"modified":"2022-09-20T17:05:10","modified_gmt":"2022-09-20T17:05:10","slug":"paphos-classic-vehicle-club-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepaphospost.com\/index.php\/2022\/09\/21\/paphos-classic-vehicle-club-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Paphos Classic Vehicle Club"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Our Classic for September is \u201cERIC\u201d the Esprit SE Turbo, who celebrates his 33nd birthday this month, having rolled out of the Lotus factory on 1st September 1989.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The car is owned by PCVC members, Paul and Diane Chadwick, (of Rock FM Radio quiz fame), who imported it to Cyprus 3 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why do they own and drive such an iconic British sports car?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul explains \u201cIt all started back in 1977 with the release of the James Bond film \u2018The Spy who Loved Me\u2019 starring Roger Moore. You may remember that Mr. Bond\u2019s Esprit converted into a submarine and that, as he drove it out of the sea he wound the window down, and threw out a fish\u2026\u2026.. BRILLIANT !!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I said, one day I\u2019m going to have one of them, (the Lotus Esprit not the fish).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many years later, as a sales representative. I used to visit Harrogate in North Yorkshire, and always called in to the local Lotus dealers to drool over the Esprits\u2026.. WELL ONE CAN DREAM. However 35 years later the dream came true and a Lotus Esprit became a member of the family which was christened ERIC by my stepdaughter\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Esprit was styled by Peter Stevens who later designed the McLaren F1 car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It features the improved 2.2 litre engine, known as a type 910S, with the new Lotus\/Delco multipoint fuel injection with a air-water intercooler.
