{"id":913,"date":"2020-06-19T07:03:30","date_gmt":"2020-06-19T07:03:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepaphospost.com\/?p=913"},"modified":"2020-06-06T07:13:57","modified_gmt":"2020-06-06T07:13:57","slug":"paphos-to-focus-on-local-tourism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepaphospost.com\/index.php\/2020\/06\/19\/paphos-to-focus-on-local-tourism\/","title":{"rendered":"Paphos To Focus On Local Tourism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By Bejay Browne.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paphos will remain the top choice for domestic tourism this year, according to the local tourism board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFollowing faithfully the decrees and various protocols of the competent ministry, a number of hotels, tourist and catering companies, municipal beaches, similar infrastructure and services have resumed their operation,\u201d a Paphos tourism board spokesman said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paphos looks set to be the top choice for Cyprus residents holidaying at home this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPaphos is expected to continue this year to be the first choice for permanent residents of Cyprus, especially during the current summer season and throughout the year, for mini weekend excursions and longer holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cyprus will be ready to reopen its doors to tourists from June 15, traditionally, Cyprus\u2019 main markets are the UK and Russia. Cyprus hopes to claw back around 30 per cent of last year\u2019s arrival numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Around 4 million tourists visited the island in 2019, creating a revenue of around \u20ac2.6 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At least one million tourists are being eyed for this year, bringing in around \u20ac800 million by the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDefinitely the best this year is to attract as many locals and incoming visitors as possible, while the focus remains on being able to extend by two months the next summer season, ie in March and November,\u201d the spokesman said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Bejay Browne.
