Throughout the lockdown, the Breakfast Show on Rock FM, celebrated the community spirit of Paphos with a special feature : ‘A great big thank you.’
The coronavirus pandemic highlighted the tremendous humanity displayed by many and offered a chance for members of the public to get in touch and say a great big thank you to individuals, organisations and charities that are doing amazing things for others in the community, and request a dedicated song.
“There are some wonderful people that are going over and above, that are showing, humanity, philanthropy, caring and love in these difficult times. They really have a Heart of Gold.”
People rallied round to undertake all sorts of errands including, shopping, visiting pharmacies, making and delivering hot meals and goods and items, providing support, as well as comfort and friendship.
Elaine Reagan Denny, who is volunteering in Paphos to help those that need assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic was thanked by Jules Thompson who had to isolate due to medical reasons. Jules said: “Elaine shops for me every week and goes to the pharmacy for me. Without her I don’t know what I’d do and I’m so grateful.”
