And we’re back, 21 months since we last performed in December 2019. Zingers haven’t been resting all this time, oh no, our Musical Director kept our spirits up & our brains working on new songs, which we learned in the first lockdown in 2020 via Zoom. Which means we have an all- new repertoire to entertain you with & where better than Kouklia Square. We have been performing here since 2014 & it is always a fun packed evening. Kindly sponsored by the ever-popular Gabriel’s Taverna & Efraim Taverna, (Maria’s as it’s colloquially called.) Both family owned & run serving high quality local fayre.
This year we are very lucky to be supported by 2 very talented guests. Rhys Taylor & Molly Langley who will be performing their eclectic mix of songs throughout the evening. Rhys has been performing in Cyprus for 10 years, after winning Paphos Has Talent He is also an accomplished guitarist so marrying his husky tones with his guitar playing is going to be a treat for everyone.
Being a popular choice for wedding entertainment across the South of the island has meant his public performances have been limited so you need to grab this opportunity to hear him as he will be heading back to the UK very soon. We are lucky to have him play for us here in Kouklia.
Molly started off singing with The Zingers at the age of 14, in 2011, she stayed in Paphos until she went to Performers college in Essex to study Musical Theatre & Dance After graduating she joined Royal Caribbean Cruises as lead vocalist until Covid hit, so it’s our good fortune we have her back in Cyprus where she is still performing around the Island & wowing the crowds. For a petite little lady, she has the most powerful voice. From19 60’s to modern songs, including songs from the shows, her versatility makes her a popular & respected performer at many venues.
The evening starts with the Paphos Zingers bringing you all their new songs. Then you can all sing along, clap your hands, tap your feet, in fact you can do anything that is legal to enjoy yourself.
Our Director said, “We want to start our first show with a wonderful mixture of upbeat songs to lift the spirits of our audience. It would be lovely to see everyone dancing again if it is allowed, albeit around your table.
We are all so looking forward to getting back to performing & raising funds for our charity, Cancer Patients Support Group, who have found it tough as Zingers contribute a good amount to their fundraising. The night is all about having fun & raising much needed funds.”
Gabriel & Efraim will be donating 2 euros per person booking a meal on the night. We will hold our ever- popular raffle & there is always a wonderful item courtesy of Ampersand Interiors up for auction.
This is our first fundraiser since 2019 so we would love to see you all there, we have a lot of catching up to do, so to make this our best Kouklia gig ever we really do need your support.
Our thanks go to our 2 tavernas who are sponsoring us, Loukas & Athina Shields at Shields Create who have designed our flyer free of charge & Gabriel who paid for the printing. There is no ticket for this event but you must book your tables directly with Gabriel & Efraim well in advance as space could be limited, (depending on Government restrictions). Tables are already being booked up so don’t leave it too late. We would love to tell you that we will be dancing in the street with our audience but the square will be conforming with the current regulations, whatever they may be at the time. Which is Saturday 4th September.
Zingers open the evening at 8 pm, which gives you time to book your table & eat your meal, although food will be served throughout the performances. Then our guests will take you further into the evening. Something for everyone & all for the price of a meal, (ok, some raffle tickets too, we have a lot of catching up to for our cancer charity.)
