After a lot of hard work and funding, the Hope Farm Project is successfully running an organic food production system here in Paphos!
More than ever before this project is vital, especially during these times of food shortages and souring prices! The farm is currently supplying fruit and vegetables to the Caratas food bank twice weekly, and will continue to do so, and also to the many people in need. As the saying goes: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”!
The Farm is not only a food supply, but at the same time it helps the refugees and asylum seekers to gain experience that will enable self sufficiency for them and their families, as well as providing for others needing food. It’s very much hands on, but in order to keep crops growing they desperately need urgent funding for the rent, water, seeds, trees and possibly a tractor.
Neil McCormick coordinator told the Paphos Post:
“We are now reaping the benefits of lots of produce and it’s full steam ahead from October for educational and organic bio diversity lessons and a plan for a sustainable future possibly suppling vegetable oil, as it;s now taken out of the food bank bags because of the increased prices! It’s early days, but we’re setting our sights high with a positive attitude.”
Wow, what a great idea! And they’ve already started with a crop of sun flowers. Soon it may be difficult to even find sunflower oil in supermarkets as Ukraine is the world’s top exporter of sunflower seed and safflower oil!!
We can grow anything on this awesome God given fertile land!
The Hope Farm Project is now totally independent of any financial support and is relying only on your financial help.
They would also still welcome spades, saws, wheel barrows, poly tunnels, and garden tools and always hands on help. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. So we’re asking you, hands on heart to help keep this amazing, very worthy project going.
Please see details of the ways you can donate because every single cent counts as “from acorns Oak trees grow….”
THE HOPE FARM PROJECT – HOW TO DONATE
Our goal at Hope Farm Project is to help educate people and children of all ages, colour, race, religion and of any background, to produce organic fruit and vegetables for the community and the Caratas food bank right here in Paphos.
We are up and running with fruit and vegetables going to people in need for now, but funding is desperately needed for water bills, land rent, seeds and machinery.
We have a polytunnel and a small irrigation system to maintain and we really need your help to keep going as we only have 100 euros left!
