The Hope Farm Project is now looking to the Autumn where preparation, ploughing and planting will begin! Like the well known hymn says “We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land, for it is fed and watered by God’s almighty hand”
The team and helpers hope to plough the land and divide the area into 12 plots which will be offered, free of charge to include water. These plots of land are open to anyone, regardless of nationality, age or background who are genuinely interested in managing the land for a minimum of 6 months, in dedication to this project, which not only supports the environment, but has the best nutritious food, keeps you active in the fresh air, educates the family, saves you money and most of all, you have the joy of spreading the love of home grown food in this amazing organic food production, where everyone is welcome and can get involved!
Neil McCormick, the project manager, also told the Paphos Post: Our vision for this Project is to develop a shared community, working together, and it is hoped that we can involve groups and associations from all areas of society including children and the disabled and that we can educate and inspire them about the future of growing sustainable high quality produce throughout the year. It is envisaged that those managing their individual plots will grow fruit and vegetables for their own use but also with the understanding that a portion will be donated to the Caritas Food Program, which helps supply Caritas with fresh produce for their weekly food bags. We so appreciate and thank them for their ongoing help in supporting and feeding the needy.
The Go Get Funding page, started in June has received a number of generous donations and we thank those who have supported this initiative. Funding is needed for the purchase of new machinery farm equipment, seeds and ongoing overheads – any help great or small will be so appreciated. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Anyone who is interested in taking a plot of land, becoming involved or making a donation should contact the Project Manager, Neil McCormick 96108349 or visit www.facebook.com/HopeFarmPaphos.
